Common Connection Errors / Solutions

RAS - Remote Access Services errors

If you are receiving RAS error 621, 659, 667, 669-673, 692, or 745, please try the following steps:

  1. Delete and recreate the DUN connectoids.
  2. Shut down and restart your computer and modem to reset them. Try to connect to BlueLight Internet Platinum again.
  3. If the error persists, uninstall and reinstall Dial-Up Networking / Remote Access Server. Please note that if you are currently using Dial-Up Networking with another application, such as fax software or programs from another ISP, you will need to reconfigure that application after reinstalling Dial-Up Networking.

Delete and recreate Dial-Up Networking connectoids.

A. To remove a Dial-Up Networking connectoid from Internet Explorer:

  1. Open Internet Explorer, select Tools and click Internet Options.
  2. Click the Connections tab.
  3. Remove only those connectoids that are safe to remove.

B. Confirm that Use a proxy server is NOT checked in LAN Settings:

  1. Open Internet Explorer, select Tools and click Internet Options.
  2. Click the Connections tab.
  3. Click LAN Settings... under Local Area Network [LAN] settings.
  4. Clear the box next to Use a proxy server for your LAN.
  5. Click OK to close LAN Settings.
  6. Click OK to close Internet Options.

To remove Dial Up Networking and Remote Access Server:

  1. Click the Windows Start button, go to Settings, and choose Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  3. Click the Windows Setup tab.
  4. Double-click Communications.
  5. Clear the Dial-Up Networking check box.
  6. Click OK and exit the Add/Remove Programs window by clicking OK again.
  7. You should now be prompted to restart the computer. If you are not prompted to do so, click the Start button and select Shut Down. Then select Restart your computer.

To reinstall Dial-Up Networking in Windows 95 or Windows 98:

  1. Click the Start button and select Settings, then Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Network icon.
  3. Select the Protocols tab.
  4. If TCP/IP or TCP/IP->Dial-Up Adapter appears in the list, highlight it and click Remove.
  5. Click Add.
  6. From the list, highlight Protocol and click Add again.
  7. After Windows loads the drivers, select Microsoft from the Manufacturer list on the left and TCP/IP from the Network Protocols list on the right.
  8. Insert your Windows 95 disk in the disk drive and click Have Disk.
  9. Do not configure any properties once the TCP/IP protocol is added.
  10. Exit out of the Network screen.
  11. While still in Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  12. Click the Windows Setup tab.
  13. Select Communications.
  14. Click Details.
  15. Under Components, make sure that the box next to Dial-Up Networking is checked.
  16. Click OK, then Apply.
  17. Restart Windows.
