Creating Additional Email Accounts - Eudora 4.3 Eudora 4.3 supports an option called "Personalities," which allows you to check multiple accounts from one copy of Eudora. When using Eudora's Personalities option, all mail will download into the same mailbox. Once the mail is downloaded, it can be accessed by anyone who has access to your computer. To create additional personalities, complete the following steps: - From the Tools menu, select Personalities.
- Right-click on the highlighted personality in the left-hand screen and select New.
- The New Account Wizard will appear.
- Check the circle next to Create a brand new email account.
- Click on the Next button.
- In the Personality Name text box, type the name of your new personality.
- Click on the Next button.
- In the Your Name text box, type your name.
- Click on the Next button.
- In the Email Address text box, type your email address.
- Click on the Next button.
- In the Login Name text box, type your email address (such as memberid@mybluelight.com)
- Click on the Next button.
- In the Incoming Server text box, type pop.mybluelight.com
- Select the server type by checking the circle next to POP.
- Click on the Next button.
- In the Outgoing Server text box, type authsmtp.mybluelight.com
- Click on the Finish button.
Multiple users who use one computer may prefer to keep their email accounts separate. In order to do so, you will need to create a shortcut by completing the steps below: - On your desktop, double-click on My Computer.
- Double-click on the hard drive in which your Eudora software resides (typically C:).
- From the View menu, select Folder Options.
- Select the View tab.
- Under Advanced Settings, you will find the folder "Hidden Files".
- Check the circle next to Show All Files.
- Click on the Apply button then click OK.
- From the File menu, select New and click on Folder.
- Name the folder Eudora2.
Note: If it automatically names itself 'New Folder' and does not give you the option to rename it, you can click on the folder once with the right mouse button and click on Rename with the left mouse button. - Open the Eudora folder.
(By default, it can be found in c:\program files\qualcomm\eudora) - Click on a file inside the Eudora directory to highlight it and press Ctrl+A. This will highlight all of the files.
- Press Ctrl+C. This will copy all of the highlighted files.
- Go back to the Eudora2 directory (This should be c:\eudora2). Double-click the Eudora2 folder to open it.
- Once the Eudora2 folder is open, there should not be any files showing. Press Ctrl+V. This will paste the files copied in step 12.
Note: You can only have one copy of Eudora open at a time. Also, be aware that if you were using Eudora before you copied the files over, Eudora2 will look the same as it did before. It will even have your original account information. To create an additional email account, follow the instructions below: - Double-click on the eudora.exe icon, which is shown as an envelope icon, found in the eudora2 folder.
- From the Tools menu, select Options.
- From the scrolling column on the left, select Getting Started and enter the following information:
- Real name: your real name
- Return address: your memberid@mybluelight.com
- Mail server (incoming): pop.mybluelight.com
- Login name: your memberid@mybluelight.com
- SMTP Server (outgoing): authsmtp.mybluelight.com
- From the scrolling column on the left, select Incoming Mail.
- Ensure that your server configuration is POP.
- Ensure that the box to the left of Leave Mail On Server is NOT checked.
- From the scrolling column on the left, select Sending Mail.
- Under Return address, type your email address.
For example: memberid@mybluelight.com. - Under SMTP Server, type authsmtp.mybluelight.com
- Click OK to exit.
- You have now successfully created another account in a second copy of Eudora Pro.
You are now ready to receive your email using this mailbox. To check your mail, double-click eudora.exe in the eudora2 folder and choose Check mail from the File menu. Note: Because of limits placed on your mailbox, you must complete the following steps to prevent your mail from being blocked or deleted.- From the Tools menu, select Accounts.
- Select the Mail tab and click on pop.mybluelight.com
- Click on Properties and select Advanced.
- Under the Deliver section, ensure that the Leave a copy of messages on server box is unchecked.
- Click OK to save.
