What is this floating ad banner? Can I move or hide it? (Juno 5.0)

For you to get free access to the Internet, Juno places a separate window on your screen called the Juno Guide. This window floats on top of your Web browser window and contains helpful navigation links and buttons, as well as advertisements that contain special offers.

Our Free Internet service uses the same model used by television and radio: Advertisers pay Juno to have their ads displayed to Juno members. You do not have to pay CBS to watch the nightly news or NBC to watch ER. Juno's advertisers pay so you do not have to. Because we provide free Internet access, the Juno Guide must be viewable while you are connected to the Web. The Juno Guide cannot be minimized or hidden behind other windows. Also, you cannot "dock" the Juno Guide. Instead, it floats on top of other windows as long as you are connected to the Web. If you click the Exit button on the Juno Guide, you will be disconnected from the Web.

Usually you will find that you can move the Juno Guide over the top portion of your Web browser's toolbar or at the very bottom of the screen. The size of the Juno Guide depends on your computer's display settings and the type of monitor you have. If you have trouble using the Web because the Juno Guide takes up too much of your screen, try resizing your browser's window so that the entire browser window is visible.

Premium service members do not see the Juno Guide when they are connected to the Web.

If you are a current Juno Free Internet service member using Juno 2.0 or later, you can sign up for Juno Platinum directly through the Juno software. To do this:

1. Start Juno.
2. Go to the Advertisements menu and select Juno's Premium Services.
3. A screen will appear that provides you with more information about Juno Platinum. Just follow the instructions on the screens to sign up.
