Sound Support (Juno 4.0)

If your computer has a sound card and speakers installed, you can hear sounds and music generated by Juno and our sponsors' ads. For example, Juno will play a certain sound when you access your account from the Welcome screen, another sound when the program has successfully retrieved your new email messages, and yet another sound when you exit the program.

To turn sound on or off:

  1. Go to the Options menu and select Sound.
  2. If there is a check mark next to Sound, the option is on. Select this option to toggle the setting. This setting does not affect your modem speaker.

To turn your modem speaker sound on or off:

  1. Go to the Connection menu and select Configure Modem.

Troubleshooting: Login sound plays even when sound is off

If you have more than one account on your computer, the login sound may play before you have finished entering the particular account you wish to use. This is because Juno does not yet know that you have set this account's preferences not to play sound. In general, Juno will follow the preference of the last account used on your computer.

You will see a new Juno icon on your computer screen. It will also appear in the Juno title bar once you have entered your account, color-coded to the level of service you have selected.

If you participate in mailing lists or other public forums, you may be worried about strangers seeing your full name. You can set Juno 4.0 to include only your email address, not your name, in the From line of outgoing messages.
This problem was a bug that has been corrected in the latest version of Juno.
